VQA NIAGARA PENINSULA | 750ML
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
While the season began with a wet cool spring, summer brought typical temperatures across Ontario. July was particularly warm and sunny with intense heat waves and high humidity. Early-ripening grape varieties escaped the wild weather of late fall and the unusual early cold snap in November. Beautiful ripe clean fruit was harvested from a 15-acre vineyard block planted in 1990. Grapes were pressed and allowed to ferment on the skins for 14 days. The wine was pressed and allowed to undergo 100% malolactic fermentation. Aging was done in newer French barriques for eighteen months, adding soft tannins on the finish.
TASTING NOTES
A brilliant glowing hue introduces a complex wine with notes of cherry, blackberry, violet, and eucalyptus on the nose. Savoury on the palate with notes of spice woven into the rich fruit and silky tannins that carry to the finish. Pair air with herb-crusted lamb chops or pink peppercorn-crusted pork tenderloin or balsamic glazed grilled eggplant.
